A brief history

FARMS Online began life as a school project developed by Kyle Harris at Elisabeth Murdoch College (EMC) in Victoria, with the aim of assisting in the operation and management of the school Agriculture and Horticulture complex.

The name FARMS came from the acronym "Farm Assistant Remote Management System", and the project initially focussed on providing a way to manage and monitor the school farm over the internet, to provide real-time information and enhance learning opportunities for teacher and students.

The FARMS livestock management system has been in use at EMC since 2010, managing the records of the school's four sheep studs, goats, calves and other animals raised and cared for by the students. The FARMS system has provided the students and teachers with reliable and up to date records, assisting in the operation of the farm and teaching opportunities within the agricultural classes.
